Gold Necklaces To Make You Shine This Summer

In recent years, gold jewelry has reached staple status. What stylish woman doesn't top her tailoring and all-neutral looks with a pendant necklace or a pair of hoops in this warm metal?

Before, gold was seen as too blingy and costume-like to be worn everyday but now, it's celebrated for its simplicity. Jewelry designers have moved away from baroque settings, opting instead for pieces with smooth curves, clean lines and subtly abstract shapes.

Complementary to both your summer glow and your warm-weather wardrobe, everyone should have a few gold pendant necklaces on hand that not only finish off your look, but maybe even carries some personal significance for you as well. The gold necklace elevates every single outfit—from a plain white tank to a tiered vintage dress. Extra bonus(es): Gold pendants wear extremely well, are easy to clean, very fun to layer, and extremely versatile.

One of the most significant overall trends we are seeing continue into this year is layering. From simple staggered pendants to multiple messy layers, it’s the more, the merrier when it comes to necklaces. In terms of trending metals, we are seeing everything from 14-18k gold filled to the tried and true white gold and sterling silver. Rose gold has also continued its popularity from previous years.

What makes gold such a great material to use when crafting jewelry, is that gold is offered in a variety of materials. These materials will differ in strength, durability, delicacy, and color. There are three types of material that a gold necklace can be made of: Solid gold, gold filled and gold plated. What are these, you ask?

Solid Gold – Solid gold doesn’t necessarily mean that the necklace is made of 100% pure gold (24 karats). It can be 22K, 18K, 14K or 10K. Of these, 18 and 14 karat gold have the best combination of beauty and strength. Higher gold karatage results in a weaker pendant necklace while lower karatage results in pendant necklace that don’t have the best gold color.

14k Gold and 18K Gold are often compared to one another, and most people will ask which of these two are the better quality. The simple and most direct answer is that both 14k gold and 18k gold are excellent quality gold materials to use for jewelry. One of the main differences between 14k gold vs 18k gold is that 18k gold will be more expensive in comparison to 14k gold. This is because the purity count of gold is higher in 18k gold than 14k gold.

18k gold in comparison to 14k gold is more delicate, softer, and not advised for everyday use. 14k gold jewelry is a great option for those who intend to wear their gold jewelry frequently. 18k gold is great for special occasion items, or to wear occasionally.

Gold Filled this type of metal is made by bonding sheets of gold onto a base metal, commonly silver. Gold filled is much better than a gold plate, and perfect for fashion jewelry. Wearing high-quality gold plated jewelry is almost as good as wearing the real thing.

Gold Plated – Gold plate is done by submerging the non-gold alloy into molten gold to create the golden coating. This is one of the inferior forms of golden chains in the sense that the only gold material you can find is on the coating of the base metal. It is less costly but it is more temperamental because it needs so much care and maintenance to make its beauty last longer.

If you’re looking for just one jewelry trend to magically overhaul your entire look for the coming season, you’re in luck because it actually exists. The market is really chock-full of wearable 14k-18k gold pendant necklaces. And if you don't have one of the many variations in your jewelry arsenal yet, the batch of picks ahead from 580 Selection are a surefire start.

Many of my friends tell me they are also much more relaxed about wearing 14K gold fill jewelry, making it their jewelry of choice for travel. If it gets lost or stolen it is still sad, but it isn't the nerve-wracking financial disaster it could be. They are also more apt to wear 14K gold fill jewelry every day without worry. It's so much easier just to grab your favorite necklace or bracelet and go when you don't have to remove it from the safe first. Thanks for stopping by Let me know if you like any of these items? I hope you will check them out and find other pieces that you'll ever love, don't forget to use INFINITE10 for 10% OFF.
